JOHANNESBURG – Some non-profit organisations face closure after not meeting the Gauteng Social Development Department’s compliance criteria for funding.
One of those is Epworth Children’s Home in Germiston.
With a monthly operating budget of R500,000, in the good times, half of that would be covered by funding received from the department.
But as the issue of compliance and confusion around it grew, some of that funding dried up, affecting the organisation’s ability to operate optimally.
Epworth has now decided to close its doors at the end of May.
eNCA reporter Hloni Mtimkulu has the details in the video above.
